An horrible movie about absolutley nothing, the whole thing is just following 3 womans and thats it , no argument at all, i didn't even find a plot.

You can say that at least the movie try to say something with this, but it's no the case here, the whole movie is just things happening and characters talking about boring things, and when the movie for the first time try to tell something "interesting" it's in THE THIRD STORY, AT THE END AND IT SUCKS, the two main characters of this story are boring and their relationship it's poorly developed 'cause of the poor writing and the stupidity of Kelly Reichardt to build chemistry between this characters, there's no chemistry at all, it's just the farmer watching the Kristen Stewart's character eat, and voila, she is in love, i don't even know this character that well to care about anything that happens to her, which is very important because in the end Reichardt try to give a "emotional" ending.

The first story with Laura is about....nothing, it's just a lawyer talking with a client, even when she is pointed with a gun it didn't matter because, again, i dont know shit about her, and the entire scene is her talking lawyer things, at some point the movie try to tell a feminist message, but ends in nothing 'cause it's only one scene and it doesn't matter for the story of the film BECAUSE THERE'S NO STORY.

the story with Michelle Williams, well.... IT'S ABOUT HER TRYING TO BUY ROCKS, YEAH, CONGRATULATIONS KELLY REICHARDT, YOU'RE A POET.

I just dont understand the people who claim that this movie is garbage or just decent, i can agree with the argument that is not the best work of Kubrick but i've liying if i say that isn´t a good movie.

Everything about the main arc of William and Alice is great, the use of colour to represents feelings, the acting, the manage of the drama, its all well done, we can feel and understand what Kubrick was trying to say and explore with this film, overall a would like to see more focus on the daughter and how all this affairs from her parents affects her life, its a total mess as a character and it would been pretty great to see that. The real problem of this movie become when Kubrick try to do more than he was able to do, like this thing of the secret society, it's fine to represent the sexual desires of William but it doesn't mean anything more than that and have more time that actually deserve it, the story lost his way in this part of the movie, and turns into some type of "Vertigo" with illuminatis and kind of ruin the movie for most of the part, but to be fair the film have an amazing visual style so all this dead time feels enjoyable, and if i have to say something remarcable of this part it would bee the use of music to create tension and ambient, wich is great as Kubrick used to do, and the scenes when William is followed or when he discover the what is behind one of the masks.

Thankfully at the end of the movie the story recover his way and ends with Kubrick saying very clear what the movie is about, for those who see the movie you will now what i'm talking about. At all it's not a great film, and have some importants flaws like i said before, but as i also said, the main arc it's great, the story about this marriage that outside looks perfect but inside is conformed by two sex animals it's absolutley great, all because of the direction and the script, Kubrick is great as usual, but in this movie makes an exceptional job with the simbolism and the arc of his characters, going deep into their minds and givin them a unique characterization. Also the end it's very useful to the main characters arc givin the final message of how the sex is a strong factor in our society but not for the storyline of the secret society, that in fact ends in nothing.

I highly recommend this film, even when the movie lost his way for a big part of time Stanley Kubrick's direction give a great and unique form to all this. 7/10

No hay mucho que decir, la historia es bastante aburrida y la manera en como es manejada también. Lo que realmente llega a destacar de la pelicula seria el diseño artístico y en general el uso de los colores, cada personaje esta caracterizado de manera visual muy sorprendente, cosa que me recordó insanamente a los filmes de Tim Burton, los escenarios tambien estan diseñados de una manera notable y hacen transiciones entre escena y escena muy particulares. Es una pieza bastante artistica sin dudarlo pero incluso hay momentos en donde los carteles narrativos se vuelven muy reiterativos con lo que vemos y como dije la historia y su ejecucion es un cero a la izquierda, recomendaria verla solo por su valor artistico ya característicos del expresionismo alemán pero que aquí son bastante destacables.
